Mezzo soprano Caitlin Hulcup to replace Christianne Stotijn.

Unfortunately Christianne Stotijn had to cancel, due to illness. She regrets this very much, she had been looking forward to join the jury and listen to all the young lied duos with a passion for art song.

We are nevertheless extremely luck we found an excellent replacement in the Australian mezzo soprano and Professor at the UdK in Berlin, Caitlin Hulcup.

Australian mezzo-soprano Caitlin Hulcup began her musical career in violin and chamber music before going on to study voice in Melbourne. Winning an Opera Foundation Award, enabled her to attend the National Opera Studio in London, which would then lead to her European debut at the Vienna State Opera. Her repertoire includes signature roles by Strauss, Rossini, Mozart and Handel, which she has performed at leading opera houses worldwide.

Beyond opera, Hulcup enjoys a rich concert career, performing internationally at major venues, such as the Sydney Opera House, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and Wiener Konzerthaus. Her concert performances have recently featured major orchestral works by Mahler including, Das Lied von der Erde and Kindertotenlieder, while her recent Lieder and chamber appearances include Oxford International Song Festival, Melbourne Recital Center  and LiedFest Berlin Oxford.

Caitlin holds a doctorate in voice from the University of Melbourne and regularly gives masterclasses internationally. She taught at the Royal Academy of Music in London before joining the Universität der Künste Berlin as a professor in 2021.

Problems with your application?

We discovered that some elements of the application through MUVAC were not clear or didn’t work properly.

  • We don’t need an “Anschreiben” or “Cover Letter”. that question has been removed.
  • There was only place for a maximum of 250 characters for the short biography (instead of 250 words). we changed that as well.
  • We changed the way to list your free repertoire and your programs for 1st and 2nd round.
  • If you have more questions, don’t hesitate to mail us!

Since Saturday 22 June you can apply!

The registration goed through the website of our partner MUVAC, it’s friendly and easy, but you need to make an account with “experience: mixed ensemble – duo“. Don’t hesitate if you have questions about your application.

You can apply until September 22 September, 23:59! But you can go for the early bird bonus if you apply before 23 July, see our timeline.

You can reach us on info@liedconcours.nl , and we’ll answer your question as soon as possible.

The flyers have been sent!

With a new flyer the ISLDC edition 2024 has been announced. It shows some impressions of 2022, it mentions the name of the composer of the compulsory song: Karmit Fadael, it presents the prestigious jury and tells a lot about prizes. and the conditions considering repertoire and applications.

Applying will be possible from the 22nd of June, via a link to MUVAC on this website.

In the timeline you can find the text of the compulsory song, that has to inspire the program for your performance in the semifinals!
